Dr. Richard J. Whitman
Dr. Whitman is a native of Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated from Creighton Prep High School in 1969 and UNMC College of Dentistry, Lincoln, Nebraska in 1976. After practicing in Southwest Nebraska for five years, he returned to Omaha, where he has practiced for more than 30 years. He had been associated with Dr. Kutler’s Dental Health Center for 29 years. Dr. Whitman has been married to his wife, Shelley, for 42 years. They have four adult children and four grandchildren. His hobbies include music, woodworking, and guitar making/repairing. He has been a member of his church choir since 1986, and of an oldies band “Happy Together” since 2006.
Shelley graduated from Burke High School in 1969 and completed 2 years of college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She married husband, Rick Whitman, before he entered the Nebraska Dental College in May of 1972. They have four adult children and four grandchildren. She worked as a dental assistant for over 10 years and is x-ray certified. She is a member of ADOM and MODOL, which are dental manager groups, and is current president of B.E.N., a business network group. Currently she performs many of the dental front desk duties including insurance. Shelley’s hobbies are gardening, sewing and Christmas tree decorating. She is a past president and buyer for the Nebraska Methodist Hospital VIP, and is currently a volunteer for the VIP. She has been in the church choir for over 25 years and in the oldies band “Happy Together” for 8 years. She also volunteers at outdoor education every April with the St. Gerald’s 6th graders for the past 22 years.
Laurie hails from the Detroit, Michigan area and was first trained as a dental assistant while stationed at an Air Force base in Germany in 1977. After relocating to the Omaha area, she started working as a dental assistant with Dr. Whitman in 1991, then continued on to hygiene school at Iowa Western in 1999. After graduation in 2001, she continued working alongside Dr. Whitman as a hygienist. Laurie has two grown children both living out of state. She loves traveling to see her kids and grandson. She also enjoys canoeing, walking, camping, and painting.
Erin is an Omaha native who attended Duchesne Academy for high school, went on to play college basketball, and completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. From 2005-2011, she worked alongside Dr. Whitman as a dental assistant with certifications in x-ray and coronal polishing. She now serves as the Office Manager. When not at work, she loves spending time with her husband and two daughters; they enjoy long walks, trips to the zoo, grilling out with family and friends, traveling, and watching college and professional sports.
Courtney was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from Northwest High School in 2006 and then went on to attend Kaplan University for Dental Assisting, where she was certified in coronal polishing and taking x-rays. Courtney has been working alongside Dr. Whitman as a dental assistant since May of 2009. Courtney has a dog named Fancy and a handful of nieces and a nephew. In her spare time, she enjoys shopping, spending time with friends and family and watching football.
Dr. Carlson Royce
Dr. Carlson was born and raised in Aberdeen, SD and obtained her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She then received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in 2016. After dental school, she wanted to continue on with her education so she attended a 2-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. There she was able to work under many specialists in the field and learn more complicated restorative and surgical procedures. She loves building trusting relationships with her patients and boosting their confidence with a beautiful, healthy smile. In her free time she enjoys staying active by running and playing tennis, traveling, reading, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
